What is a Brand?

What is a brand, really?

It is easy to think your brand starts with the visible stuff. The logo. The website. The tagline. The colors. The polished sentence you spent too much time trying to get just right.

All of that matters. But none of it is the brand by itself.

We think of a brand as three circles that overlap.

The first circle is who you are as an organization. It is your values, your habits, and the way you operate when nobody is watching.

The second circle is who you say you are. This is your marketing, your advertising, your website copy, and the messages you put into the world.

The third circle is your reputation. It is what other people say about you after they have worked with you, bought from you, or heard about you.

Where those three circles overlap, that is your brand.

The closer those circles are, the stronger your brand becomes. The farther apart they get, the weaker it feels. People may not always be able to explain it, but they can feel the gap.

That is why branding is not just a design project. It is not something you wordsmith into existence in a conference room. Your logo, website, messaging, and reviews all play a role, but the real work is making sure they match the actual experience of your business, both inside AND out. We call that alignment.

A brand is something you build every day.

If your marketing feels scattered or disconnected from who you really are, we can help you sort through it. Book a discovery call with Chollet Marketing & Advertising
